Prunus serrulata "Amanogawa"

Blossoms profusely with semi-double, light pink flowers set closely to the erect branches. Flowers are sweet scented, often described as redolent of freesias.  It has an upright or columnar habit, hence its common name, the flagpole cherry. In late spring it's smothered in semi-double, pale pink blossom, popular with pollinators. The foliage is green-bronze in spring and fresh green in summer. In autumn, the leaves turn orange and red before falling. Prunus 'Amanogawa' is one of the best trees for small gardens. It holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit.

*Ama-no-gawa means "heavens river" and is the Japanese word for galaxy.

This is a bare rooted tree. Bare rooted trees are deciduous trees that have been grown in the ground and are dug up when they've become dormant in the winter. The soil is shaken from their roots and they are bundled up with their roots packed in moist material to prevent dehydration during transport. Bare rooted trees are lighter and easier to carry, making this a cheaper way to send trees while the tree is dormant.
